Home Runs For Literacy 2025
We would like to thank International Paper and the Memphis Redbirds once again for supporting our mission and our communities with a $75,000 donation! The program, Home Runs for Literacy, is a special initiative to promote literacy in the region and helping to prevent summer learning loss, or "summer slide." We had an amazing time at Autozone Park yesterday with the students from LMS-supported programs, as well as other groups of students invited by the Redbirds to enjoy a beautiful day at the ballpark! ⚾️🌭
Throughout the season, International Paper pledges to donate to LMS for each home run hit by the Redbirds. In addition, IP purchases hundreds of tickets for elementary students who attend LMS-supported summer programs. Students are incentivized to read four materials (books, articles, mags, etc.) over the summer to attend the game where they receive a hat, hot dog, soda, and get to parade the bases to celebrate their success. IP also provides funds for our partners to transport the students to the game.
