LiteracyCorps is Literacy Mid-South’s AmeriCorps program for people passionate about advancing literacy equity in Memphis. Volunteers serve children, adults, and families while gaining training, coaching, professional experience, leadership skills, and eligibility for a Segal AmeriCorps Education Award upon successful completion of service requirements.

Adult ELL Volunteer Tutor
Support adult learners through speaking, listening, digital literacy, workforce English, and more.
300-hour term: Oct. 19, 2026–July 30, 2027
Expected commitment: 7–9 hours per week
$3,000 AmeriCorps living allowance

Provide structured one-on-one or small-group reading support at UniverCity Family CDC.
300-hour term: Oct. 19, 2026–July 30, 2027
Regular tutoring: Tuesday–Friday, 4–6 PM

Lit Street Team
Lit Street Team is one program with two current recruitment placements. Both roles support elementary-age students and families through literacy activities, family engagement, book access, and literacy-rich enrichment.
Bert Ferguson Community Center
300-hour term: Oct. 5, 2026–July 30, 2027
Service days: Monday, Wednesday, and Thursday
Expected commitment: 7–9 hours per week
