Did you know that Memphis has an organization that offers free tutoring for adults who need help with reading or want to learn English? Once assessed, those adults are waiting to be matched up with a tutor who can work with them one-on-one or in a small group setting...YOU!
Become a volunteer tutor with Literacy Mid-South and help empower an adult to accomplish their reading, writing, or English speaking goals by meeting twice a week for six months, though you are welcome to continue meeting as long as desired. All tutoring is done at the library of the learner’s choice, or virtually via video chat, and the meeting schedule will be set by the two of you.
At this point, you have to be wondering how you can sign up to be one of these amazing tutors...I’m glad you asked! All you have to do is fill out a volunteer application, attend a one day training, and a continuing education training every other month.
