Educational Services:

The DeSoto County Literacy Council also provides a General Educational Development (GED) program. The GED program serves students 18 years or older (17 years old with necessary documentation) who have not received a high school diploma. DCLC provides all necessary materials to prepare students for the GED exam.

Desoto County Literacy is now offering a GED Express Class.  Students attend class Monday through Thursday from 8:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m.  Students study one area of the GED each week.  Every Friday the student takes the one subject area that was covered in class.    The class is five weeks.  There is a scholarship available for students who enroll in the GED express class.  The scholarship pays the $75 GED testing fee.

Must be 18 years or older with no high school diaploma.

Intake Process:

Every literacy student is given a diagnostic assessment in reading. This assessments provides valuable information regarding the student's strengths and needs in the four components of reading.

All services at DCLC are provided at no cost to our students.
