We are delighted to welcome three new additions to the Literacy Mid-South team! Their love of Memphis and commitment to supporting the work of Literacy Mid-South makes them a great addition. Please join us in congratulating our newest team members!
Lindsey Johnson is the Director of Development for Literacy Mid-South. A native Memphian, Lindsey is ecstatic to come home after living and working in Los Angeles, California for the past 5 years. Lindsey has previously worked in fundraising, account management, and event production throughout Southern California. Lindsey loves the Memphis momentum that is rocking the city and making connections within the community. She received her BA in Theatre and French from the University of Tennessee at Knoxville. She also enjoys exploring new museums, cheering on the Vols and Grizzlies, yoga, collecting stationery, and hiking with her husband, Seth, and miniature schnauzer, Walt.
Candace Lester is the Development Associate. Within her role, Candace supports grant writing, communication initiatives, and volunteer recruitment. She is a native Memphian and proud CBU alumni. Candace has a B.A. in English, experience in fundraising, qualitative/quantitative research, project management, and communications. Candace says she could never imagine living and working anywhere but in Memphis. Her work is influenced by her belief in the power of equal access to education to disrupt the cycle of generational poverty. When she's not working and volunteering around town, Candace loves spending time with her 9yr old daughter Jailyn.
CaitlIn started working with Literacy Mid-south as a Summer Associate in the summer of 2017. She then went on to partner as a VISTA with Memphis Athletic Ministries. While there she used her education background to create and implement a new middle school reading program based on comic books. She has now taken on the role of VISTA Leader and hopes to use her experience to build a rewarding program for future VISTAs. Her duties include VISTA recruitment, training, and management. She is also responsible for assisting the VISTA Supervisor.
