Volunteer & Donate

You Can Give Back

Literacy Mid-South has several volunteer opportunity areas:

  • Tutors for Adult Learners
  • Special Event Volunteers
  • Committees
  • Other Needs

Literacy Mid-South would not exist without the dedication, energy, and commitment of our volunteers. Since we began, volunteers with diverse skills and interests have given their time and energy to help us serve a community in need. Each volunteer has been a great inspiration to Literacy Mid-South students and staff alike.

Tutor an Adult

Literacy Mid-South offers tutor training workshops several times a year.  Members of our Tutor Training Team share from their experiences as they guide volunteers through the basic skills of tutoring. (All materials needed for the workshop are provided.) New volunteers meet with the program staff and explore resources and materials.

First, review the upcoming tutor training workshops, and choose one that fits your schedule.

Second - watch the video below. It will give an overview of how our program works

Third, fill out the application below.  You will be registered for the tutor training workshop of your choice as long as room is available. Confirmation will follow by e-mail.

And last, attend a tutor training workshop.  There you will meet program staff and current tutors.  You will also receive materials and instructions on how to begin.

Special Event Volunteers

You can volunteer at one of our many great special events! We have events year round and always need volunteers to help with setup, breakdown, manning booths, handing out information, collecting donations, serving on event planning committes, and more.
