Literacy Mid-South has several volunteer opportunity areas:

Literacy Mid-South would not exist without the dedication, energy, and commitment of our volunteers. Since we began, volunteers with diverse skills and interests have given their time and energy to help us serve a community in need. Each volunteer has been a great inspiration to Literacy Mid-South students and staff alike.
Tutor an Adult
You can change a life by helping an adult student overcome illiteracy! Basic literacy instruction is provides through small classes, one-on-one tutroing sessions, and computer aided instruction. Classes include reading, writing, math, spelling, grammar, English as a Second Language (ESL) and Financial Literacy. Classes are available on weekdays both morning and evenings.

Tutor a Child
Work one-on-one in a charter school setting with children who are not at grade level but want to excel academically. You can teach math or reading to a 1st-12th grader at one of five area charter schools.

Help Around Our Office
Literacy Mid-South relies on volunteers to keep our organization running smoothly. You can help by volunteering as a clerical volunteer, assisting staff with various activities, events, classes, and more. For more information, click here(apadgett [at] literacymidsouth [dot] org).
Organize a Book Drive or Fundraiser
Literacy Mid-South provides thousand of books each year to low-income children and families. You can help by organizing a book drive at your office, school, or place of worship. We accept new books for any age.

Special Event Volunteers
You can volunteer at one of our many great special events:
Super Gala: Dress up like a superhero and help with this event. You can help with games and activities during the day for kids or help with the amazing sioree in the evening.
Cooper Young Festival Book Fair: Help Literacy Mid-South sell thousands of books, all which help support the programs of our organization.
Open House: This holiday event needs volunteers to help sell Holiday Cards, serve food, and act as greeters.
Corporate Spelling Bee: Help with registration, set up and tear down, and more.
